Trailer: Netflix’s “The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf”

The Witcher franchise has become one of the most popular within the last year, mostly because of the acclaim Henry Cavill’s recent Netflix adaptation found. Now, the streamer has debuted a trailer for their animated prequel spin-off, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

The action is set well before the adventures of Geralt of Rivia and follows has mentor, Vesemir, who’s said to be something of fast-talking swashbuckler entranced with the life of a witch, which helped him find a way out of the slums of his youth. However, when he is tasked to investigate monster attacks in a nearby kingdom, he’ll be forced to face the past he thought he’d left behind for good.

While the aforementioned Cavill likely won’t have anything to do with this prequel, it does have a particularly good voice cast which includes Theo James, Lara Pulver, Graham McTavish, and Mary McDonnell.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf will hit Netflix on August 23rd and will kick of a slew of The Witcher franchise content, with the main series’ second season arriving in December, while a one-off live-action prequel titled Blood Origin, will arrive sometime in early 2022.
