First Trailer: Netflix’s “Scott Pilgrim Takes Off”

Early last year, Netflix announced that they were developing a new take on the cult comic seriesScott Pilgrim vs. The World. Fast forward to this week and the streamer has released the first trailer for the project, along with November 17th release date, which is titled Scott Pilgrim Takes Off and will see the entirity of the live-action cast from the 2010 Edgar Wright film return to voice their respective characters.

The eight-episode American-Canadian-Japanese anime series looks to be merging many of the well-recieved elements from the film with the comic, as well as expanding the narrative by including scenes that didn’t make it into the original adaptation. Supposedly, the film will stick closer to the source material, while also seeking to update the material for a new generation.

Wright is back in the foldas a producer, alongside the IP creator, Bryan Lee O’Malley, who is also onboard as a writer and co-showrunner with BenDavid Grabinski. Notably, the entire cast from the live-action film are returning to voice their characters from Michael Cera and Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Scott and Ramona, to Kieran Culkin, Anna Kendrick, Chris Evans, Brie Larson, Brandon Routh, Aubrey Plaza, Jason Schwartzman, Johnny Simmons, Mae Whitman, Ellen Wong, Johnny Simmons, Alison Pill, Mark Webber and more.

Acclaimed anime studio Science SARU is handling the animation for the series, which is aiming to maintain the comic style that was adapted into the well-recieved XBOX game adaptation, whilst Joseph Trapanese will serve as the composer and Anamanaguchi will provide songs. Netflix will release Scott Pilgrim Takes Off on November 17th.
