Trailer: Dwayne Johnson in NBC’s “Young Rock”
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has made a name for himself by being one of the most charismatic action stars to ever grace the silver screen. He first came to prominence as a part of the WWE, becoming, arguably, the most successful pro wrestler ever. He’s gone on to star in the Fast & Furious franchise, and every movie he’s in is a box office draw. However, it wasn’t always glitz and glamor for the Brahma Bull and his early life is going to be the subject of the NBC sitcom Young Rock, which just dropped its first trailer.
The story will follow Johnson’s life at different periods of his youth. There will be a heavy focus on his family’s wrestling background, as his father was “Soulman” Rocky Johnson, and his mother was a part of the legendary Anoa’i family. However, it will also delve into his high school years where he was something of a problem child, as well as his collegiate career as a football player at the University of Miami. It looks to be a blend of eccentric comedy and family wholesomeness, while also elaborating on the trials and tribulations of one of the biggest stars of today.
In fact, Johnson himself actually took to social media yesterday to comment on how excited he is for the show to debut, commenting on Twitter that:
Humbly shaking my head at the wild Forrest Gump-ish life I’ve lived. And man, the lessons I learned along the way from loved ones who now walk in the clouds. Look forward to making ya laugh & maybe a little bit more.
Anticipation for this Young Rock has been high ever since it was announced last year, and the millions (and millions!) of The Rock’s fans are no doubt interested in learning about the megastar’s upbringing. The series is set to premiere on NBC on February 16, 2021.
