Trailer: Chris Rock’s Tamborine Comedy Special Extended Cut
Early on in its tenure, streaming giant Netflix began pick up live comedy specials. This initially seemed like an odd path, but it proved to be one of their smartest moves, as they have become the primary outlet for stand-up specials. Comedians, such as Dave Chappelle and Gabriel Iglesias, have inked very lucrative deals that have led to some of the best work of their career and allowed Netflix to corner the niche market. One of their most notable and lauded specials thus far has been Chris Rock’s Tamborine, which originally debuted back in 2018.
However, the famed funnyman and Netflix are going back to that well once again, with Netflix releasing a trailer a new extended cut of the special, titled Chris Rock: Total Blackout, The Tamborine Extended Cut. The first is held up as a modern classic, with critics noting Rock’s earnest and forthright commentary on the world and romantic relationships, especially his own misdeeds within his failed marriage, as both hilarious and refreshing.
This new version will include exclusive interviews, behind-the-scenes footage from the original taping, and additional material from his Brooklyn Academy of Music set that wasn’t originally included in the Tamborine special. Chris Rock’s Total Blackout Extended Cut will drop on Netflix on January 12th.
