The CW Drops A New Trailer For “Superman & Lois”

The CW’s Arrowverse interconnected continuity has been a major success for the network, originally kicking off with the Stephen Amell-led Arrow. Since then the universe has expanded to include spin-offs like The Flash, comic books, streaming animated shows, and yearly crossovers that are as epic in scale as anything on the big screen. Now, the CW has unveiled the first look at the next installment in the Arrowverse, Superman & Lois.

The series will see Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch reprising their titular roles, following on from well-received guest appearances in everything from Supergirl to last year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths. The program will be unique amongst small screen Superman-fare, though, as it isn’t an origin story of their relationship at all. Rather, Clark and Lois are married, and have been so for quite sometime, and are raising two teenage children.

The plot will see the couple returning to Smallville with their children in order to handle some Kent family business. Once there, they’ll meet Lana Lang (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a friend from Clark’s past, and, if they are going to follow the comic source material, the first person that he shared he the secret of his superpowers with.

The show is being written Todd Helbing (The Flash), who’ll also be acting as the showrunner, while Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Geoff Johns will act as executive producers. The series also stars Inde Navarrette as Lana’s unruly daughter, Erik Valdez as Lana’s husband and the local fire chief, Wole Parks as an enigmatic stranger and the supposed antagonist. And in a twist, the character of General Sam Lane, who first appeared on sister series Supergirl, has been recast with veteran TV actor Dylan Walsh taking over the role.

Superman & Lois is one of the most exciting new offerings from DC and The CW that looks to lessen the sting of some of the departing Arrowverse shows. The series will premiere on February 23rd.
