Official Trailer: “Star Trek: Strange New Worlds”
While Star Trek has hit several roadblocks in theaters, being absent since 2016’s notable misfire Star Trek Beyond, the franchise has seen new life on the small screen, with Picard and Discovery proving to be massive hits with both critics and fans. Following up this success, Paramount+ has just released the first trailer for the new series, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
The will act as a prequel to the original 1960s series and will follow the adventures of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), who first appeared during the events of season 2 of Star Trek: Discovery. Notably, Captain Kirk won’t be a character in the series, as this is well before his time. Though, if the show proves to be a hit, it seems likely that the character could be added in later seasons, and fans could get a glimpse of time as a junior officer in Starfleet.
Mount is joined by the returning Rebecca Romijn and Ethan Peck, Number One and Spock respectively, who also previously appeared in Discovery, as well as Jess Bush as Nurse Christine Chapel, Christina Chong as La’an Noonien-Singh, Celia Rose Gooding as Cadet Nyota Uhura, Melissa Navia as Lt. Erica Ortegas, Babs Olusanmokun as Dr. M’Benga, and Bruce Horak as Hemmer.
“tar Trek: Strange New Worlds will stream exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and is set to debut on May 5th.
