First Trailer: Netflix and Valve’s “DOTA: Dragon’s Blood” Anime
DOTA started off as a rip-off of Blizzard’s Warcraft 3, where gamers could indulge in their favorite aspects of the game without getting bogged down in years of storyline and a push to move onto World of Warcraft.
The game quickly became one of Steam’s biggest hits, scoring rave reviews from both audiences and critics. Moreover, the game has become a massive phenomenon in gaming competitions and remains one of the most lucrative options for pro gamers.
Not to rest on their laurels, the game’s production company, Valve, has partnered with Netflix to create an eight-episode anime series, and a trailer for the project has just been released. Said show will follow a renowned Dragon Knight named Davion who is intent on wiping the scourge from the face of the world. However, after a chance encounters with a powerful, ancient being and the noble Princess Mirana, who is on a secret mission of her own, Davion will become a pivotal figure in a conspiracy that has worldwide ramifications.
Studio MIR, who were the animators behind The Legend of Korra, are on board for the series, while Ashley Edward Miller (X-Men: First Class) is serving as showrunner and executive producer. DOTA: Dragon’s Blood is set to debut on Netflix globally on March 25th.
