First Trailer: Disney+’s “Obi-Wan Kenobi”
Capitalizing on the Star Wars themed “May the 4th” celebrations happening, Disney+ has dropped the official trailer for the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series.
The story follows the titular jedi ten years on from the events of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, where the Jedi Order was crippled because of Order 66 and Kenobi battled his friend and former apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, ultimately defeating him in what became the catalyist for Anakin to fully accept the dark side transform in the Sith Lord Darth Vader. Trying to keep a watchful eye over yong Luke Skywalker, Kenobi will be pulled back into action and eventually confront his old apprentice once more.
The series sees Ewan McGregor return to his role as the iconic Jedi Master, while Hayden Christensen is back on board as Darth Vader, a version of the character ne never really portrayed previously. They are joined by an impressive ensemble that includes Rupert Friend, Moses Ingram, Joel Edgerton, Bonnie Piesse, Kumail Nanjiani, Indira Varma, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Sung Kang, Simone Kessell, Benny Safdie, and perhaps even Flea from The Red Hot Chili Peppers in a fun cameo.
The series was written by Joby Harold and directed by Deborah Chow, both of whom also serve as executive producers. Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May27th.
