“Wrong Turn” Reboot Debuts A New Trailer

Saban Films has dropped the official trailer for filmmaker Mike P. Nelson’s Wrong Turn, which is a reboot of the 2003 Eliza Dushku horror feature. That film would spawn a franchise 5 direct-to-video sequels, with Dushku sitting out those entries and the quality being noticeably lesser.

The last installment was Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort. The update, though, is stripping back the mythology of the series and trying to get back to what attracted fans in the original. The rebbot has been in the works since 2018 and fans of the genre have been eagerly anticipating the new iteration.

The story follows a group of friends on a cross-country hiking trip who end up accidentally entering the domain of a secret, inclusive society called The Foundation. These people have called the densely forested mountains the group find themselves in home since before the Civil War, and their ideas are representative of that. The friends soon discover that the society’s laws are somewhat archaic and that there seems to be something sinister at play.

Constantin Films is distributing Wrong Turn, which will hit theaters for only one night on January 26th through Fathom Events. Charlotte Vega, Matthew Modine, Damian Maffei, Bill Sage, Emma Dumont, Valerie Jane Parker, Chaney Morrow and David Hutchinson make up the ensemble cast. There are no other release details as yet, though it will likely hit PVOD shortly after it’s Fathom debut.
