Trailer: Tilda Swinton In “The Human Voice
Director Pedro Almodovar, fresh from some of the best reviews of his career thanks to the Antonio Banderas-led Pain and Glory, will son be back on screen with his short film, The Human Voice.
The half-hour film stars Tilda Swinton in the lead role and marks the first English-language project from the acclaimed Spanish auteur. Swinton plays a woman watching time passing next to the suitcases of her ex and his dog, who doesn’t comprehend that his owner has left him behind.
The movie had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival back in September of 2020 to great critical praise. It currently holds a 96% on Rotten Tomatoes and was quickly nabbed Sony Pictures, though there is no release date for the short as of yet.
The Human Voice will likely make its way to screens in something in the next few months, and everything is pointing at this stark portrayal of loss being an early Oscar contender for Best Live-Action Short.
