Trailer: Doug Liman’s “Locked Down” on HBO Max

Doug Liman is one of the most exciting directors going today. The Edge of Tomorrow is considered a modern day sci-fi classic and he’s responsible for kicking off the Bourne franchise with 2002’s The Bourne Identity. Needless to say, genre fans are always interested when his name gets attached to a project, and his next film, Locked Down just dropped its first trailer.

The movie is a romantic comedy-thriller that features an all-star ensemble including the likes of Anne Hathaway, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ben Stiller, Stephen Merchant, Lucy Boynton, Ben Kingsley Mindy Kaling, and Dule Hill. The story follows a couple who decide to separate just as the mandatory lockdown kicked off and they are forced to stay together. However, remaining near one another proves quite difficult, at least initially, but poetry and inordinate amounts of alcohol reunite them to face an issue neither of them saw coming.

This is certainly a bit of a stretch from Liman’s typical fare, but his deft directorial hand combined with an excellent cast leave this effort with a good chance at success. Locked Down will premiere on HBO Max on January 14th.
