Trailer: DC’s “Injustice: Gods Among Us” Animated Feature
A feature adaptation of the hit 2013 action-fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us was announced a few months back, with fans of the product particularly exuberant, as the game seemed ripe to becoming a movie. Now, the first official trailer for Injustice has released.
And it’s looking like the actual story of the movie will stick as close as possible to the game which takes place in an alternate timeline where The Joker tricked Superman into killing Lois Lane and accidentally destroying Metropolis with a nuclear bomb. As a result, Superman went insane and murdered the Joker as punishment.
However, the Kryptonian hero isn’t content with that, and decided that lethal force is the only way to keep order, so he continued to execute criminals, growing more and more corrupt with each murder. Five years on from the tragic death of Lois Lane, Superman has formed the One Earth Regime in order to keep the peace across the world. The only problem is that not every hero is on board, and Batman leads a team of heroes who have joined forces to try stop him.
Warners appears to be banking on this animated film being a hit and has assembled quite the voice cast, with leading the way Justin Hartley (This Is Us, Smallville) as Superman and Anson Mount (Star Trek: Discovery) as Batman. They are joined by an eclectic selection of character actors that include Laura Bailey as Lois Lane, Edwin Hodge as Mr. Terrific and Killer Croc, Yuri Lowenthal as Mirror Master as well as Flash and Shazam, Anika Noni Rose as Catwoman, Zach Callison as Damian Wayne and Jimmy Olsen, Brian T. Delaney as Green Lantern, Reid Scott as Green Arrow and Victor Zsasz, Brandon Michael Hall as Cyborg, Oliver Hudson as Plastic Man, Gillian Jacobs as Harley Quinn, Derek Phillips as Nightwing and Aquaman, Kevin Pollak as Joker and Jonathan Kent, Faran Tahir as Ra’s al Ghul, and Fred Tatasciore as Captain Atom.
The adaptation of Injustice: Gods Among Us is set to release both digitally and in stores physically on October 9th, just a few days after the DC FanDome event, which will likely have a big focus on the film.
