Teaser: Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”

Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is, perhaps, the riskiest project that the comic powerhouse has adapted to screen so far. While many point to Guardians of the Galaxy as proof positive that an untested property can succeed, that IP at least had name recognition amongst Marvel diehards. Shang-Chi, however, is obscure even by those standards, often overshadowed by the vastly more popular character, Iron Fist.

However, Marvel is looking to change that and all indications are that Shang-Chi will soon be a household name. In fact, Marvel has just dropped the first trailer for the feature, and it provides a great look at what audiences can expect.

The movie Simu Liu in the title role, with Awkwafina, Tony Leung, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, Ronny Chieng, and Michelle Yeoh rounding out the rest of the cast. The plot sees Liu’s Shang-Chi pulled back into dealing with the nefarious Ten Rings terrorist organization, first glimpsed in the original Iron Man film back in 2008. Shang-Chi will have to battle the demons of his past while confronting the “real” Mandarin, as portrayed by Leung.

The trailer also makes it clear that Disney and Marvel are sticking with their September 3rd release date.  The full teaser can be seen below:
