Second Trailer: Disney’s “Raya And The Last Dragon”

Disney has been has seen an uptick in success for their releases over the last several months. Pixar’s Soul was a big hit on Disney+, and the second season of The Mandalorian scored rave reviews and set up the future of the small screen universe. Hoping to follow-up this string of triumphs, Walt Disney Animation Studios has premiered the second official trailer for their animated fantasy feature Raya and the Last Dragon.

The film, which is about six weeks out from release, is set in the magical world of Kumandra where humans and dragons peacefully lived. That all changed, though, when an evil force threatened the land and the dragons sacrificed themselves so that humanity could survive and flourish.

However, five centuries later, that same evil force finds its way back into the world, but there are no dragons left to stop, or so it seems. Raya, voiced by Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars sequels), will set off on a quest to track down the legendary last dragon to restore the fractured land and its divided people. Along the way, the lone warrior will learn that it’ll take more than a single dragon to stop the evil force, and she’ll have to learn to trust in those around here if there’s going to be any chance of success.

The movie also stars Awkwafina as the voice of the dragon, while Adele Lim (Crazy Rich Asians) and Qui Nguyen took on the screenwriting duties. Upping the film’s cred even further is director Don Hall from the Academy Award-winning Big Hero 6, who helmed the project alongside Carlos Lopez Estrada (Blindspotting), Paul Briggs (Zootopia) and John Ripa.

Many are excited for Raya and the Last Dragon, which will release both in cinemas where available, and on Disney+ as their second Premier Access title on March 5th, and it’s seeming like this film could live up to the hype surrounding it.
