New “Death to 2020” Trailer Released By Netflix

As 2020 comes to a close, many will view the year as one of the most tumultuous of the modern era. The world has been struggling in the midst of deadly virus and everything that can go wrong seems to be going wrong. However, Netflix wants to end things on a definitive note with their feature, Death to 2020, from Black Mirror creator Charlie Brooker, and finally released a full trailer for the movie.

The production has actually been behind a shroud of secrecy until relatively recently. A brief teaser was released early this month, though that was little more than an acknowledgement that the film existed and was forthcoming. The new trailer, though, gives a little glimpse at what audiences can expect, and promises “the definitive story of the most historic year in history.”

The film is a mockumentary that will feature Hugh Grant as a historian looking back at the year from a humorously critical perspective. It is set to highlight real events from the year, with various “experts” analyzing what happened. And no topic seems to be off limits. From murder hornets, to the failed mobile streaming service, Quibi, to the Queen of England herself. The film looks to inject some laughter into what has been a most depressing and difficult year. The project will also star the likes of Samuel L. Jackson, Lisa Kudrow, Kumail Nanjiani, Joe Keery, and Leslie Jones.

Alongside the trailer, Netflix also announced that Death to 2020 will be available on the service just after Christmas, on December 27th. While the frustrations that have been so present during the year won’t be going away any time soon, it’ll be nice to view the proceedings and laugh, instead of wanting to wrap up in a blanket and pretend to be a burrito whilst awaiting the next disaster.
