Sylverster Stallone as Rocky and Michael B. Jordan as Creed.

While the status of Creed III felt up in the air at times, it is indeed on the way, and MGM has begun the marketing push by releasing the first trailer for the third entry in the reboot/nostalgia series.

The film sees Adonis “Donny” Creed returns and contiues the trend of facing his demons in the ring, with the tagline “there’s no enemy like the past” promising that Jonathan Majors new antagonist Anderson Dame will be a person close to the titular Creed, even if the plot is still pretty heavily under wraps.

Notably, this the first Rocky film not to feature the original creator and star Sylvester Stallone, as the aging action star promised after Creed II that he was hanging his gloves up, and he seems to be sticking to that. Stepping in to steer the franchise is the current leading man, Michael B. Jordan, who is making his feature directorial debut.

Tessa Thompson (Thor: Love & Thunder) is back as Adonis’ girlfriend Bianca, while Phylicia Rashad returns as his stepmother Mary Anne and Florian Munteanu resprises his role as Viktor Drago from the previous installment. Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin wrote the screenplay from a story they devloped alongside the original film’s director, Ryan CooglerCreed III is set to open on March 3rd 2023.
