First Trailer: DC & Warners “The Flash”
Warner Bros. Pictures has kept the Andy Muschietti-directed film The Flash shrouded in secrecy since it was announced, with all the news surrounding the project essentially little more than rumor, though, at the DC Fandome last year, there was a brief preview. That all changed this weekend, though, as the studio has released the first official trailer ahead of the Super Bowl.
The story follows Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) who uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. However, in attempting to save his family, he inadvertently changesthe future. As a result, Barry gets trapped in a reality in which General Zod (Michael Shannon) has returned, is threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to, unless Barry can coax a much older and very different Batman out of retirement in order to rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
The film, which is heavily influenced by the fan-favorite Flashpoint storyline from the 2000s, has reportedly tested very positively by those who’ve seen it and Michael Keaton’s return as Batman is being especially praised, though there is some confusion, with reports that Ben Affleck is still returning as Bruce Wayne, though Gal Gadot and Henry Cavill’s cameos have been cut. Sasha Calle, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdu, Kiersey Clemons, and Antje Traue also star.
The Flash” will open in theaters on June 16th 2023.
