A Girl Falls In Love With Tilt-A-Whirl In New “Jumbo” Trailer

Idiosyncratic romance films having been making something of a comeback in recent years, with Netflix hitting it big with the genre, and films like Crazy Rich Asians finding a wider audience than anyone imagined it would have. However, Jumbo, which just released a new trailer, is perhaps the oddest addition to the genre in recent memory.

The film has been a great success on the festival circuit, first premiering at Sundance last year. It quickly caught the attention of critics, who have taken to the irreverent tone of the movie, with many saying it takes the best parts of the class Terms of Endearment, but updates them for modern audiences and adds some heavy doses of weird.

Jumbo stars Noemie Merlant, the breakout star of Portrait of a Lady on Fire as a shy, young amusement park employee who sparks up an amorous relationship with the parks alluring new Tilt-A-Whirl ride for which the film is named. She finds herself enamored with the lights, chrome, and smooth hydraulics, and quickly seeks something far more erotic and sexual.

Jumbo is also the debut feature of Zoe Wittock, and if one thing is certain its that this will be a unique love story, to say the least. It will be released by Dark Star Pictures in select cinemas on February 19th with PVOD to follow on March 16th.
