Trailer: Edgar Wright’s “Last Night In Soho”

Edgar Wright is one of the most notable auteur filmmakers, with legions of fans due to his irreverent filmmaking process and witty scripts. From Shaun of the Dead to Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Wright has been pushing to pop culture boundaries of movies and he’s not planning on slowing down anytime soon. Following on from the success of Baby Driver, his most recent feature, the trailer for Last Night in Soho has finally arrived.

The project is a psychological thriller, which is a new genre for the director, and follows an aspiring young fashionista whose dreams take her back in time to the 1960s London where she poses as her her favorite singer. But not everything is as it seems, as the timestream has been broken and phantoms from the past begin to terrorize her present.

Anya Taylor-Joy, fresh from her much-lauded performance in Netflix’s The Queen’s Gambit, leads an impressive cast that also includes Thomasin McKenzie (Jojo Rabbit), Diana Rigg (Game of Thrones), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), and Terence Stamp (Priscilla).

In addition to helming the project, Wright also took on the scriptwriting duties alongside Krysty Wilson-Cairns, with the movie being an attempt to emulate well-regarded thrillers of the past like Repulsion and Don’t Look Now.

Last Night in Soho will debut in theaters on October 22nd. Whether or not there will be a concurrent on-demand release hasn’t been said, but given the current trend, it seems likely that the distributors will try and make it a cinema exclusive.
