First Trailer: Kevin Smith’s “Clerks III”

Dante and Randal behind a counter in "Clerks 3"

28 years after Kevin Smith first dropped into the film scene with the original Clerks, the director is returning the the Askewniverse with his signature brand of raunchy, heartfelt comedy with Clerks III, the third, and seemingly final, entry in the film series.

The threequel picks up years after the ending of 2006’s Clerks II, with Dante Hicks (Brian O’Halloran) and Randal Graves (Jeff Anderson), both in their 50’s now, having left Mooby’s to own and operate the Quick Stop in Leonardo, New Jersey that had accidentally burned down at the start of the second film. However, Randal has a heart attack, and though he survives, he comes to belive that he wasted his life. He becomes obsessed with memorializing himself to prove that his life mattered and decides to make a film. Former Mooby’s manager Becky (Rosario Dawson) and former co-worker Elias (Trevor Fehrman) both return for the story

Kevin Smith will be debuting his film through a travelling road show, similar to what he’s done for several of his films in the recent past, with Lionsgate acting as the distributor. The shows are Fathom events and often include meet & greets and cast roundtables. Clerks III will have it’s world premiere in New Jersey on September 4th. Fathom Events will then release it on September 13th and September 15th.
