Three More Join Hulu’s “Only Murders In The Building” S2
Hulu’s eccentric comedy, Only Murders in the Building, was a surprise hit last year, with both critics and audiences taking to the quirky tale of three unlikely friends investigating a grisly murder that happened in their apartment building.
While speaking with Deadline about the success of the series, actor and executive producer Martin Short commented that:
Steve and I have a long history and Selena is a brilliant addition to the show, but then what fuels it is this compelling whodunit. You have the two going on at the same time and then you add the obsession with podcasts. I think all the stars lined up in the right direction to make this something that people wanted to see, and enjoyed seeing, and kept wanting to see, for the comedy and also the mystery of it.
With such rousing success, it was no surprise that Hulu fast-tracked the already planned second season. Filming is currently underway, with all the principal characters having returned. In addition, Martin Short, Steve Martin, and Selena Gomez in the lead roles, Nathan Lane and Tina Fey will reprise their first season recurring roles of Teddy Dimas and Cinda Canning, respectively.
However, there are a number of new faces that will be popping up in the show’s sophomore effort. Shirley MacLaine and Amy Schumer have signed up for significant supporting roles, though there are currently no details on what those roles will look like. Also joining up is Cara Delevigne (Amazon’s Carnival Row), who will purportedly be playing someone from Gomez’s past.
Filming on Only Murders in the Building is set to run through April. While there is no timetable set for the season’s debut, it seems likely to hit the streamer sometime in late 2022, likely in the midst of Autumn, but could possibly be held off until early 2023.
