“Shameless” Casts Chelsea Alden For Final Season
Shameless has been Showtime’s biggest hit, arguably, since its premiere. The series has garnered legions of fans, who look forward to watching the dysfunctional family live their chaotic lives in Chicago’s southside.
Sadly, after the tenth season, which was the first not to feature former star Emmy Rossum, the show announced that it would be ending its run after one more season. All the major cast members, including William H. Macy, are returning for the final set of episodes.
Season 11 kicked of this past Sunday, December 6th, and now that the end has begun, more details about what is ahead for the Gallagher clan are being released. It was just announced that Chelsea Alden will be joining the show. The actress is perhaps most well-known for her portrayal of Mackenzie on Netflix’s 13 Reasons Why. However, she has also appeared in The Ranch, Jane the Virgin, and The Good Doctor.
Alden’s will be playing Tish, a frustrated cashier who gets saved by Carl (Ethan Cutkosky) from an interaction with an angry customer. The role will be a recurring one, and its looking likely that she’ll end up as a love interest for the most delinquent Gallagher son.
While it’s certainly disappointing for the beloved show to end, it looks to be doing so on a high note. Audiences are still extremely invested in the story and it gets the highest ratings of any other Showtime program. The eleventh season looks to wrap things up in as satisfying a way as possible. Lip is building his own family in his own house, Ian and Mickey are figuring out what it means to be married, and Debbie is continuing to run the family and embracing her individuality even more. There is even a chance that Rossum’s Fiona will pop in for a final farewell at some point.
Erstwhile patriarch Frank will likely throw some sort of curve ball at the family over the course of the final season of Shameless, but it’s nothing the family can’t handle. New episodes will premiere on Showtime every Sunday night, with the final episode hitting sometime in early 2021.
