New Star Wars Series “The Book Of Boba Fett” Announced

Boba Fett is a fan-favorite character in the Star Wars universe. Even though the character was barely featured in the original trilogy, and actually had his first appearance in the reviled 80s holiday special, audiences took to the brooding bounty hunter. He had a unique design and seemed very different from the motley characters that surrounded him. And now, in the wake of his featured role in season 2 of The Mandalorian, Disney has announced that Boba Fett will get his own streaming series, The Book of Boba Fett.

The streaming series will follow its titular star after the events of the recent The Mandalorian season finale, which saw Fett take the control of the throne of his former employer, Jabba the Hutt. Little is known currently about what to expect from the show, but it will likely see Fett trying to maintain control of his newly gained criminal empire.

This is an interesting turn for the character, who was shown to have a heretofore unknown streak of honor. He took back his armor in as peaceable way as possible and even aided Mando in his quest to retrieve The Child. Chances are he’ll appear as more of an anti-hero in his own series and fans are no doubt excited to get the chance to follow the solo adventures of their favorite bounty hunter, as well as to see what happened to him after he miraculously survived falling into the Sarlacc Pitt in Return of the Jedi.

Point in fact, this isn’t the first time Disney has taken a stab at having Boba Fett lead a production. Back in 2015 when Lucasfilm unveiled their slate of films, it was noted that Josh Trank would be writing and directing an anthology entry featuring the character. Following on from troubling reports from his Fantastic Four movie, and that productions ultimate failure, Trank was dropped and the film went into turnaround.

The Book of Boba Fett is scheduled for release on Disney+ in December of 2021, so it’s clear that the mouse house has been working on the project for awhile and has faith in it. This news almost rivals Darth Vader’s announced return in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series. Are you excited for Boba Fett to finally be getting his own Star Wars show?
