MCU Alum Clark Gregg Wants To “Save Daredevil”
Daredevil is, arguably, Marvel’s most successful small screen offering. The show streamed on Netflix for three seasons (plus joining in for The Defenders miniseries) before being abruptly canceled in November of 2018.
It’s commonly believed that Netflix wanted to move away from Marvel content as a result of Disney+ coming to fruition. Even so, fans look back on the show fondly. The first season is considered one of the best pieces of Marvel storytelling from any avenue. Charlie Cox led the cast as the titular blind hero, while Vincent D’Onofrio wowed with his portrayal of Wilson “Kingpin” Fisk.
While the second season slightly stumbled, with a bit too much focus going toward worldbuilding for the team-up series The Defenders, it still proved to be a hit. The series even ushered Jon Bernthal’s iteration of Frank Castle. The portrayals was so well-liked that the violent vigilante known as The Punisher earned his own loosely connected spin-off.
The creative behind Daredevil, however, learned from the mistakes of season 2 and The Defenders. The final season harkened back to the quality of the first. It provided a much tighter and personal story, which audiences responded to, and finally adding fan-favorite villain Bullseye. With the course corrected, all signs were the show would have a long and healthy future.
But that was not to be and though it has been over two years now, supporters of the show are still clamoring for a return of the show and the character. Now, actor and MCU alum Clark Gregg has added his clout to the cause, commenting on Twitter that he thought the series should return.

The Netflix shows were always a little nebulous. There were some passing comments in the early seasons that hinted they were connected to the MCU. And Marvel’s own marketed loved to posit that “It’s all connected”, but neither Daredevil nor any of the other Defenders were ever mentioned in the films.
Frustratingly, Marvel has been mum about the future of Daredevil. But now that Netflix’s hold has expired and the studio is free to pursue a production of some sort again, there could be a chance that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock will suit up again and take to the streets of Hell’s Kitchen.
