Martian Manhunter Confirmed For Snyder’s “Justice League”
Zack Snyder’s Justice League miniseries is, perhaps, the most anticipated superhero project releasing in 2021. It took years of fan support to get Warner Bros. on board with releasing Snyder’s unfiltered vision, but in March fans will finally get to see what the director truly intended.
And now that the show is getting closer to its release, more and more details are getting released to help raise awareness and excitement, and one of the more interesting bits is confirmation that Martian Manhunter will be featured in the series.
According to actor Harry Lennix while speaking with Collider, he returned for the recent Justice League reshoots and filmed new scenes as the aforementioned Manhunter. Lennix portrayed General Swanwick in Snyder’s first DCEU effort, Man of Steel, and it has long been known that the director intended for the military man to show up again as the Martian Manhunter.
The funny thing is that the actor didn’t know what his role was destined to become when he initially took the role for the 2013 Superman film. It wasn’t until later, when Justice League began to take shape that he was informed. And for his part, Lennix seems ecstatic to be portraying DC’s favorite martian hero on the big screen, commenting that: “It’s going to be great to be up there with Batman and Superman and my pals. I’m once again like a kid at a candy store.”
There have been a lot of bombs dropped lately about Justice League, from the possible inclusion of Jared Leto’s Joker, to the miniseries getting recut as an R-rated theatrical release. Even so, news that the Martian Manhunter is going to appear has to make many DC comic fans happy. The series is set to debut on Warner’s HBO Max streaming service this coming March, though no definite date has yet been provided.
