Jessica Biel Replaces Elizabeth Moss In Hulu’s “Candy”
One of the more exciting upcoming shows from Hulu is the true-crime inspired limited-series thriller, Candy, which was originally set to star Elizabeth Moss. However, as the production has finally started to move forward after several delays, Moss has officially been replaced by former 7th Heaven and Marvel’s Blade: Trinity star Jessica Biel.
The reason for the sudden switch appears to be scheduling conflicts, with Moss no longer able to accommodate the project. Also, this isn’t to be confused with HBO Max’s version title Love and Death, which stars Elizabeth Olsen in the lead role, which is the same story, but is based on the novelization, “Evidence of Love”.
The story will follow two couples in the heart of Texas who go to church and are active in their communities. Everything seems to be going well, and could even be considered idyllic, until the infamous Candy pops up. On the outside she seems perfect, with a good job, a caring husband, and a burgeoning family. However, Mrs. Montgomery has a dark secret, as she happened to kill a good friend of hers with an axe. The story will apparently see the aforementioned couples’ lives get turned upside down by this revelation and they try and figure out what to do.
In addition to her starring role, Biel will also executive produce through her production company Iron Ocean alongside Michelle Purple, Nick Antosca, Michael Uppendahl and Alex Hedlund. Robin Veith wrote the pilot script, though there is no word on the writer’s continued involvement.
There is no word on when Candy will head into production, though given it will have direct competition from HBO Max’s Love and Death, it seems likely that it will be fast-tracked. Even so, it likely won’t start shooting until sometime in Spring of 2022, at the earliest.
