Howard The Duck Teased For The Disney+ “She-Hulk Series

She-Hulk is one of the more interesting shows on the slate for Disney+ in the coming years. Set to star Tatiana Maslany in the lead role, as well as the likes of Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga and Mark Ruffalo returning as Bruce Banner/The Hulk in a key supporting role, excitement is high for the project, which is said to be something akin to a courtroom dramedy.

However, beyond the casting announcements and general series description, not much is known about the production or how much it will tie into the MCU. There is now, though, some interesting news regarding a rather off-the-wall cameo character: Howard the Duck!

Voiced by Seth Green (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Robot Chicken) and first appearing in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy, the irreverent character has been something of staple in the MCU franchise, though never having more than a few seconds of screen time, with his most prolific appearance coming from last summer’s What if… series, where the titular duck featured in two episodes.

Coming from Picsou Magazine, an officially licensed Disney publication, an editorial states that Howard the Duck is “part of Marvel’s plans again” and that he could be included in the upcoming She-Hulk, though there is no info on whether it’s just a cameo or as a part of the cast. The full quote, from Twitter user @tuttiquantinoob, translated from French, is as follows:

A webbed future? Howard the Duck seems to be part of Marvel’s plans again: in the What If…? series, he got married to Darcy Lewis…Does the duck, elected in 2009 as one of the strangest characters in the Marvel team by “Time” magazine, have a promising bright future? In any case, the She-Hulk series, which lands this year on Disney +, could reserve some “what the duck” surprises! This should delight lovers of this turbulent duck, determined to do as he pleases.

While this might seem to be a little too bombastic to be believe, the characters of She-Hulk and Howard the Duck to have a history together in the comics, with the pair having met for adventures on several occasions. More telling, perhaps, is that Howard the Duck is often portrayed as a private eye in Marvel Comics and given that She-Hulk is to be something of a legal comedy, featuring the oddball character in such a role could be an interesting way to tie into that.

While this is far from confirmation, the fact the source is an official Disney publication does lend some credence to the rumor. Whatever the case, fans won’t have long to wait, as She-Hulk is set to debut later this year for a 10-episode run in Disney+.
