Ginger Gonzaga Cast In Marvel’s “She-Hulk” Series

While Marvel’s first Disney+ series, WandaVision, has audiences somewhat split regarding its quality, it’s nonetheless an unquestioned success, becoming the most watched premiere for the fledgling streamer. Moreover, it has gotten fans all the more eager for more info on future projects. Following on from announcing that Ethan Hawke would star as the villain in the Moon Knight series, Marvel has revealed that actress Ginger Gonzaga (Kidding) will star opposite Tatiana Maslany in the upcoming She-Hulk series.

The show, which is being directed by Kat Coiro and Anu Valia, will be a legal comedy centered on the adventures of the Jennifer Walters (Maslany), who gains powers similar to her cousin, Bruce Banner aka The Hulk, because of a blood transfusion she needed after an accident. At least that is the origin from the comics, and it seems likely that Marvel will follow the source material, as they haven’t strayed far with other heroes.

Gonzaga is set to take on the role of Walters’ best friend, though how she’ll factor into the story wasn’t revealed. She’ll be joining Mark Ruffalo, who is reprising his role as The Hulk, though to what extent he’ll appear isn’t yet known. Also returning for another round in the MCU is The Abomination, played by the incomparable Tim Roth. The villain hasn’t been seen since his defeat in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk and he is expected to be the central antagonist, though he may not be the only Hulk baddie popping up.

Gonzaga further confirmed her casting, taking to social media to express her excitement. Her full comments can be seen below.

While the story of She-Hulk is up in the air right now, this casting lends more weight to the overall comedic tone of the production, and it’s likely she’ll be something of a comic relief, much like Kat Dennings was in the first two Thor films. The series has no definitive air date, but it has been tentatively set for sometime in 2022.
