Elizabeth Olsen To Star In “Love And Death” For HBO Max
After the success of Marvel’s WandaVision on Disney+, many having been wondering what is next in store for the show’s lead, Elizabeth Olsen. As it turns out, the actress is looking to get a little murdery, as she has just signed on to star in Love and Death, a limited series for HBO Max.
In the show, from famed producer David E. Kelley, Olsen will portray real-life 1980’s Texas axe murderer Candy Montgomery. The production will be an adaptation of the true crime book, Evidence of Love, and will follow two couples in the heart of Texas who go to church and are active in their communities. Everything seems to be going well, and could even be considered idyllic, until the infamous Candy pops up.
On the outside she seems perfect, with a good job, a caring husband, and a burgeoning family. However, Mrs. Montgomery has a dark secret, as she happened to kill a good friend of hers with an axe. The story will apparently see the aforementioned couples’ lives get turned upside down by this revelation and they try and figure out what to do.
This story is one that Hollywood has been trying to tell for years now, with another series simply titled, Candy, announced last year, though that project was set to star Elizabeth Moss in the title role. What the status is of that version remains to be seen, though, as they are both from Lionsgate TV, it seems likely that older one is in turnaround.
Kelley will executive produce the series, alongside Nicole Kidman, Per Saari, Megan Creydt, Scott Brown, Matthew Tinker, Michael Klick and Helen Verno. Lesli Linka Glatter is named as the director and it is expected that she’ll helm every episode. How long the Love and Death will be or when it will arrive on HBO Max hasn’t been announced, though it’s likely it won’t be until late 2022, at the earliest.
