Disney To Actually Produce “Rogers: The Musical”

The cast of Rogers: The Musical featured in the "Hawkeye" series.

The series premiere of Hawkeye saw the titular hero of that series attending a showing of a tongue-in-cheek Broadway show titled Rogers: The Musical, which was a re-telling of the battle of New York from the first Avengers film. After that, it became a bit of a running joke amongst fans about how crazy it would be if Disney really did something like that. Well, the Mouse House was listening through the bugs they implanted in your house and it turns out, they actually are doing it.

News broke when Marvel released a teaser video of a very Peggy Carter-esque dressed woman in front of Disneyland California Adventure Park’s Hyperion Theater. The video was captioned: “A timeless story of a timeless hero! A short one-act musical is coming for a limited time this summer to Disney California Adventure Park! Stay tuned for more details.”

Notably, the musical has officially been canon for the MCU ever since a poster for it popped up in both Spider-Man: No Way Home and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. When it finally appeared in Hawkeye, audiences were understandably agog, though most took it for the bit of fun it was, with the song “Save the City”, written by Scott Wittman and producer Marc Shaiman, became a bit of a viral hit (though it is unclear.

Whether Wittman or Shaiman will be involved with the stage production is unclear, nor is it announced what the show will actually include, as the Peggy Carter tease is a little odd, as that character was an elderly woman by the time the Battle of NY took place. Disney is expected to release a more detailed announcement in the coming weeks.
