Amazon’s “The Boys” Season Three Starts Filming This Week

The Boys is, perhaps, the biggest success story to come out of Amazon Prime’s cinematic endeavors. The show focuses on a small group of people who’ve been wronged by the superheroes who’re supposed to protect the world but are secretly egomaniacal dirtbags who really only care about themselves and don’t care who they hurt. The first two seasons were runaway successes, with audiences responding to the smart, dark humor and the over-the-top violence.

In fact, Amazon was so confident in season 2, which focused on the titular band of rebels taking down a seemingly immortal supe who just also happened to be an undercover Nazi, that they renewed it for a third season prior to the second even airing.

And while there has been little news about the series, outside of the hype surrounding Supernatural’s Jensen Ackles getting cast as Soldier Boy, The Boys’ Captain America parody, Eric Kripke has finally announced that filming on the next set of episodes will kick off shortly. His full comments from Twitter can be seen below:

The biggest question surrounding the show is how will the characters reunite? At the end of the second season finale, The Boys seemingly went their separate ways, with Hughie notably accepting a job working with secret supe and becoming the most removed from the group.

However, Homelander is still at-large, and The Seven and Vought have a lot of work to do in order to repair the public faith in them after the debacle that was Stormfront and her white supremacist past. It’s this desire to repair their image that will likely see them turn to Soldier Boy, the original supe, for help. And given that Billy Butcher’s wife Becca was murdered, it’s likely that he’ll find a reason to take up arms again.

There is no scheduled release for The Boys season three as of yet, but barring any setback or unforeseen quarantine issues, it’s possible that the next chapter could hit Amazon Prime before the year’s end.
