Warners Drops First “Black Adam” Clip At DC FanDome
DC’s Black Adam is one of the longest in-development superhero projects at Warner Bros., with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson signing up for the feature all the way back in 2015. And while the movie has definitely had an extremely long gestating period, the wrestler-turned-actor has been teasing a release of initial footage for a while now.
And true to his word, Johnson was as on hand to premiere the first clip from his DC live-action superhero debut over the weekend at the DC Fandome event. Production on Black Adam officially kicked off back in April, with filming only recently wrapping up and moving into post-production. The tease doesn’t give much indication to the overall story and is apparently from a scene very early on in the runtime.
The clip in question sees a hooded figure, who ends up being Black Adam, in what appears to be a broken down throne room, similar to that of the Wizard from Shazam, square off with a squad of modern day mercenaries. What the military company is doing in the the mystical cavern isn’t explain, but there is a small show of Black Adam’s power set, which includes his invulnerabilty and superspeed. The footage also gives audiences their first glimpse of The Rock in costume. Everything is preceded by a brief rundown of the movie’s development, with several actors from the project touting it as something truly special.
Jaume Collet-Serra helms the film from a screenplay written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshiryani. Johnson stars at the titular villain/hero in the movie, which will see him share the screen with the live-action film introduction of the Justice Society of America. The film’s ensemble includes Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, and Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone.
DC‘s Black Adam will open on July 29th 2022.
