Tom Holland On “Spider-Man: Now Way Home” Rumors

Sony and Marvel’s Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most highly anticipated films coming out this year. And this is largely from the large number of rumors swirling around the project, the range from Peter’s best friend Ned morphing into a villain, to Doctor Strange secretly being the much-hyped villain Mephisto.

However, the most prominent possible spoiler has been talk that the film will include not only Tom Holland’s version of the Websliger, but also Tobey Maguire from the Sam Raimi-era films and Andrew Garfield’s iteration from The Amazing Spider-Man series.

Now, everyone has downplayed this possibility, though there haven’t been out right denials. Lending more fuel to the fire is the presence of Spidey-villains like Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock and Jamie Foxx’s Electro, who seem directly ripped out of the franchise’s past.

Whatever the case, the rumors are only getting bigger, especially after a set phot recently leaked that supposedly features Maguire and Garfield, as well as Daredevil himself, Charlie Cox, who has also been heavily rumored to feature in the project. Now the infamously spoiler-prone Holland has weighed in on the issue while speaking with Games Radar, which ends up as more of a clarification than an outright denial. He says:

Everyone puts their trousers on in the same way in the morning. It was interesting having those guys come in because they have certain ownership over Spider-Man in their own way, and… I’m talking about Alfred and Jamie and those guys. To see Alfred come in, and have to adapt and change to the way that the films are made, but also change director, and also [the fact that] I’m now Spider-Man. It was really interesting to see these actors adapt and change what they were doing to fit the modern era. People don’t believe me when I say that [Maguire and Garfield] are not coming back. But people are going to have to believe me at some point. It means a lot to me. The first time you see Doc and the rest of the characters that come back, it’s so exciting – and it’s such a huge moment in cinematic history. It’s three generations coming together.

Whether this is a true or simply more deflection to maintain the surprise is anyone’s guess. Even so, Spider-Man: No Way Home is poised to be the biggest of the year, hitting theaters just in time for Christmas on December 17th.
