“Deadpool 3″Brings Back Reynolds And Jackman
One thing that Marvel fans have been wondering since the Disney/Fox merger is when Deadpool (and the X-Men, but really, mostly Deadpool) will make his way into the MCU proper. There have been some small inclusions, with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X popping up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness for a fun cameo, and the character Ms. Marvel being teased as a mutant. However, the wait is now over as Deadpool 3 has been announced as releasing on September 6th, 2024 release, smack in between Marvel’s fifth and sixth phases.
But not only is Ryan Reynolds returning as the Merc with a Mouth, but he’s bringing back fan favorite X-Man Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. It was largely believed that Jackman was hanging up the claws for good after 2017’s Logan, but time and the oodles of money that Disney is likely giving him seem to have changed his mind.
The official statement came out via Reynolds in a new video he released through his various social media accounts. The project looks to continue the R-rated nature of the first two installments, Deadpool 3 being written by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who are picking up from a previous draft by Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin
Shawn Levy (Real Steel), who’s prolifically worked with both Reynolds and Jackman in the past, will be helming the film, and actually made a statement himself, saying:
I want to take a minute to thank Stranger Things for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now.
Jackman has long been considered the best cast superhero alongside Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, and his inclusion in Deadpool 3 is not only what many genre fans have been clamoring for for years, but also the fruition of jokes and skits that Reynolds and Jackman have been engaging in for years. Whatever the case, this blockbuster pairing has the promise to be the most successful installment in the franchise, which has a combined worldwide gross of over $1.5 billion.
