Bill Murray To Make A Cameo Appearance in Third Ant-Man?
With the soft reviews for Marvel’s Eternals coming out, as the studio’s recent schedule shift dominating the news cycle recently, there has been a lot of unrest for fans of the MCU. In brighter news, though, it seems that legendary comedian Bill Murray might be making an appearance in the Marvel threequel, Ant-Man: Quantumania.
The news comes from the funnyman himself during an interview with the German newspaper, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, who was out doing promotion for the upcoming Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Specifically, Murray said:
I recently made a Marvel movie. I probably can’t tell you about it, but it doesn’t matter. In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project of all things. But for me it was very clear: I got to know the director – and I really liked him a lot. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director. And with the cheerleading story Bring It On he made a film years ago that I think is damn good. So, I accepted, even though I’m not otherwise interested in these huge comic book adaptations as an actor. Let’s put it this way: the director is a good guy, and now I’ve at least tried what it’s like to make a Marvel movie. But I don’t think I need this experience a second time.
As Peyton Reed isn’t specifically named, he was the director of Bring It On, so it seems obvious that he is the director that Murray is referring to. As such, the third Ant-Man film is the only real option for an appearance.
While the actor takes care to note that he doesn’t want to return to the Marvel universe, he seems happy that he got the opportunity to take part. It’s likely he’ll only have a brief cameo and won’t have a big impact on the movie, but it’ll still be a cool easter egg for fans.
Ant-Man: Quantumania is set to debut exclusively in theaters in July of 2023.
