Marvel and Sony’s “Spider-Man 3” Adds Another Villain?
Marvel and Sony’s Spider-Man 3 has been one of the more hyped up projects of the last few months. The conversations have swirled around the various returning characters, from former villains like Jamie Foxx’s Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, to Charlie Cox possibly reprising the role of Matt Murdock/Daredevil. Needless to say, the film is balancing a lot of disparate elements from other films, and it has definately captured the attention of audience.
Now, it seems that the Spider-sequel is going to incorporate some of the more prominent features of the PlayStation games, namely the organization F.E.A.S.T., a non-profit seeking to help the homeless community of New York City, and a place where both May Parker and Miles Morales have volunteered. In fact, new set photos from Reddit tease the company’s incorporation.
What makes rumor even more interesting is that F.E.A.S.T is run by Martin Li, otherwise known as the villain Mr. Negative, who is one of the more prominent evil doers of the modern age of comics, and something of a fan favorite.
This is a bit of an out of the box choice to include, as Mister Negative doesn’t have anywhere near the name recognition of some others in Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. In the comics, Li was forced to undergo an experimental procedure that gave him control of the “Lightforce” and the “Darkforce”, elements that are usually attached to the heroes Cloak & Dagger. However, the experiment also turned Li into a Jekyll and Hyde of sorts, with Li controlling the Lightforce and being the benevolent benefactor of F.E.A.S.T., while Mister Negative is a sinister crime boss utilizing the Darkforce.
The character is certainly one of the more distinct in recent memory and it could be that his inclusion here is more to build up the future of the Spider-Man franchise, allowing for a possible direction in future film. He could even be an in-road for other MCU heroes, like the aforementioned Cloak & Dagger, or even Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, to come back into the fold as he’s often seen battling them.
While it’s almost certain F.E.A.S.T. will be in Spider-Man 3 in some form or fashion, the appearance of Mister Negative is still unconfirmed. Tom Holland is coming back for another round as the webslinger and the movie is currently set for release on December 17th.
