Ray Stevenson Signs On As A Villain For “Ahsoka”
With The Book of Boba Fett proving to be another hit for Disney+, and suggesting that the future of the Star Wars franchise could, perhaps, be on the small screen, the attention has quickly turned to future offerings. Specifically, Lucasfilm has announced that Ray Stevenson (Thor, The Punisher: Warzone) has been cast as a villain in the upcoming Star Wars: Ahsoka series.
The show will follow fan-favorite Jedi character Ahsoka Tano, who first appeared as a character in the cult-classic cartoon, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. From there, the character made a live-action appearance in season 2 of The Mandalorian, portrayed by Rosario Dawson, and then again in a recent episode of The Book of Boba Fett.
As for Stevenson is reportedly, it is being reported that he will playing a key supporting villain, though he won’t be Grand Admiral Thrawn, who’s confirmed to be the main bad guy of the project. Notably, Stevenson voiced a character named Gar Saxon in several of the animated Star Wars shows, so it’s possible that he’ll be taking on that role.
Stevenson has extensive experience with nefarious characters, as he’s played memorable villains in shows like Dexter and Blackbeard in Black Sails, to films like The Other Guys. However, he’s perhaps most well-known as one-third of the Warriors Three in the Thor franchise.
Story details are still under wraps, though, and what character Stevenson will be portraying hasn’t been officially announced. In regard to the overall story of the show, it’s expected to follow Tano as she traverses the galaxy in search of Thrawn, a blue-skinned master strategist and former commander in the Empire.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno and Natasha Liu Bordizzo are also onboard as co-stars, while while Hayden Christensen is reprising his role as Anakin Skywalker, who was Tano’s mentor during her training. Star Wars: Ahsoka is due to begin shooting in Los Angeles at the end of April, with it likely being set up to air sometime next year.
