Teaser: Netflix’s “Tekken: Bloodline”

Netflix has found great success in animated adaptations of video game franchises, Castlevania garnering significant critical acclaim and last year’s Arcane turning out to be a big awards contender. Their next effort will be Tekken: Bloodline, a new anime series based on the popular 3D fighting game that the streamer announced alongside the first trailer.

The series will tell the story of Jin Kazama, a martial arts prodigy from an early age, who powerless when a monstrous evil suddenly appeared, destroying everything dear to him, changing his life forever. Angry at himself for being unable to stop it, Jin vowed revenge and sought absolute power to exact it. His quest will lead to the ultimate battle on a global stage – The King of Iron Fist Tournament.

Tekken games debuted in 1994 and quickly became a staple in arcades and on consoles. The franchise remains one of the most popular fighting games in the world, which has been adapted for the screen multiple times already, including a maligned a live-action movie, a CG-animated movie, and a two-part OVA anime series and more.

Tekken: Bloodline will launch sometime later this year, though no specific date has yet been announced.
