Former Wrestling Stars Flock To Peacock’s “WWE Evil”
Many were interested to see what would come of the increased partnership between WWE and NBCUniversal, when the wrestling conglomerate’s niche streaming service, the WWE Network, merged with NBC’s Peacock. And while access to regular wrestling show and pay-per-views has brought a lot of viewers to Peacock, the first proper collaboration between the two was announced as WWE Evil.
The documentary show, which will be executive produced and narrated by the WWE’s own John Cena, will take an in-depth look at the history of villainy within the promotion, and the business of sports entertainment itself. Specifically, the series will look to highlight how the evil characters developed, and how they’ve had an impact on pop culture.
However, beyond this brief explanation, there were little details on how the show would function or who, besides John Cena, was going to be a part of it. Now that, the show has begun production, though, several names have come out as participating. Former WWE Superstars such as Hulk Hogan, Charles “The Godfather” Wright, Batista, and Mick Foley are joining the program for interviews. Alongside them will be current stars including Randy Orton, Bayley, Paul Heyman, The Usos and The Undertaker, though those are just the ones who have currently been announced.
It’s also being rumored that the show will focus on one character at a time, such as the iconic Ric Flair or “Rowdy” Roddy Piper, whose personas have branched well beyond the confines of WWE and professional wresting, and have, in fact, become inspiration for athletes, movie stars, and ever rappers.
WWE Evil currently doesn’t have a premiere scheduled, though it’s being said that NBC and Peacock executives are eyeing a debut in late fall, though that could be pushed to early 2022. Whatever the case, the show will hit the streaming service sooner than later.
