AEW Star Samoa Joe Set As Sweet Tooth In “Twisted Metal”
One of the more interesting projects to be announced recently has been an adaptation of the hit video game series Twisted Metal from fledgling streamer Peacock. And while the project has garnered a who’s who list of stars, such as Anthony Mackie (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) and Stephanie Beatriz (Brooklyn 99) it was just announced that wrestling superstar Samoa Joe (real name Joe Seanoa) will be taking on the physical role of Sweet Tooth, while veteran funny man Will Arnett provides the voice.
Sweet Tooth is a maniac clown with a penchant for causing chaos wherever he goes and the character is expected to have a major role as one of the primary antagonists on the show. This is notable as it marks the first major acting role for Joe, who is an avid gamer and regularly appeared on UpUpDownDown, the YouTube channel of fellow wrestler Xavier Woods.
Joe is, perhaps, most known for his time with the WWE, were the big man ran through opponent after opponent with his impressive physicality an no-nonsense attitude. Presently, Samoa Joe is a member of the AEW roster, having only recently debuted, and currently holds the ROH Television Championship.
Twisted Metal is a live-action half-hour action-comedy series follows a fast-talking outsider (Mackie) who is given a chance to earn a better life for himself and his family. The catch, though, is that he’ll have to deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland with all manner of psychopath looking to stop him.
In addition to being the lead man, Mackie will also be acting as executive producer alongside Deadpool scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, while Michael Jonathan Smith is the writer/Showrunner. PlayStation Productions, fresh off their theatrical hit, Uncharted, will be backing Twisted Metal for Peacock, though there is no timetable set for when this show could air.
