“King of Fighters XV” Reveal Trailer Promises A Mix Of New And Old

Venerable fighting game franchise King of Fighters will (hopefully) see its fifteenth entry, the inventively titled King of Fighters XV, released sometime this year. After a seemingly endless two-day delay, we finally got our first real look at the game in a new reveal trailer from developer SNK. From the looks of things, there should be plenty to be excited about whether you’ve been a fan of the franchise since the beginning or if you’re brand new to the series.

First and foremost, SNK showcases many of the characters longtime fans expect to see in a KoF game – Benimaru, Kyo, K’, Leona, and Mai are all given a brief turn in the spotlight. Arguably the most notable character, however, is the new main protagonist of this game: Shun’ei, who returns from 2016’s KoF XIV. As in the teaser trailer from last month, in which producer Yasuyuki Oda and creative director Eisuke Ogura showed off some of the game’s concept art, the reveal footage shows off a slight redesign for Shun’ei as he takes on this expanded role as the game’s central character. The overall art style has been tweaked slightly from earlier games in the series, but otherwise it looks like an easily recognizable SNK fighter, another in a long line of quality games from the publisher.

We hope to see more from King of Fighters XV, including little things like some gameplay footage and a definite release date, sometime in the near future.
