Trailer: WWE and Netflix’s “Escape The Undertaker”
WWE has been a media giant and a major force in pop culture since the 1980s. And while the company has always exceled at the pro wrestling side of things, things haven’t always gone well when they branched out. That’s not going to stop them from trying, though, as they’ve paired with Netflix to release the action-horror film, Escape The Undertaker.
The movie sees one of WWE’s most popular factions, The New Day, comprised of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods, and current-WWE Champion Big E, unexpectedly trapped inside the Deadman’s haunted mansion. They’ll have to brave the unknown perils of the sinister domicile in order to survive the night.
Of note, the project was film in a “choose your own adventure” style, as there is an interactive element at play. Audiences will get to make choices throughout the film’s runtime, choosing where The New Day travels throughout the haunted mansion and what traps they’ll face.
Many have been wondering what was going to be next for The Undertaker, as he reportedly retired after his well-received “Boneyard Match” against AJ Styles at last year’s WrestleMania. However, it was clear that WWE wasn’t ready to let go on their most unique and inventive character, with this movie set to just be the start of expanding the brand.
Escape The Undertaker will release on Netflix on October 5th, just in time for the Halloween season.
