DC’s “Injustice: Gods Among Us” Gets An Animated Film
DC’s Injustice: Gods Among Us game series, which launched back in 2013, stands as one of the most unique and innovative comic adaptations in recent memory. The fighting game twisted the DC mythos in such a way as to make it new and fresh, and the fans really latched on. It’s been lauded to such a level that Warner Bros. just announced that it would be adapted into an animated film.
The story is set in an alternate timeline where The Joker tricks Superman into killing Lois Lane and accidentally destroying Metropolis with a nuclear bomb. As a result, Superman goes insane and murders the Joker as punishment. But that’s not enough and the rogue kryptonian decides that lethal force is the only way to keep order, so he continues to execute criminals, growing more and more corrupt with each murder. as he grows more and more corrupt.
Five years on from the tragic death of Lois Lane, Superman has formed the One Earth Regime in order to keep the peace across the world. The only problem is that not every hero is on board, and Batman leads a team of heroes who have joined forces to try stop him.
All things considered, there is a lot of potential for an Injustice film, and while news surrounding this feature are slim, if it is well-received, there is every chance that there could be a follow up. At this point there have been no casting announcements, nor any news on who the director might be.
Injustice: Gods Among Us is set to be the next DC animated universe project to go forward, with a sneak preview being attached to home video release for Batman: The Long Halloween: Part Two on July 27th. There is currently no date set for when this could be released, though with the timing, it’s likely to hit sometime in early 2022.
