New “Hitman III” Trailer Showcases Impressive VR
The Hitman franchise in one of the most successful in the catalogue of developer IO Interactive. The series began in 2000 and was distributed then by Square Enix and became an instant hit for the PSone. The games have continued on since, with critical acclaim staying steady, though there have been a few noticeable dips.
But the games have garnered legions of fans and the World of Assasination series, which began in 2016 with the aptly named Hitman was heralded as a return to form. Now, the third and final installment, which has to be considered one of the most anticipated of the year, will soon be released, and IO Interactive has dropped a new trailer, which showcases the unprecedented high-quality VR mode.
The previous games have so far boasted 6-8 large sandbox levels, wherein the player must try to eliminate a specific target by utilizing inventive and differing methods. The newest entry will continue this trend while also incorporating all the levels from the previous two games, though only for owners of those first two games.
Moreover, all the levels from those previous games will be updated to include optional VR modes. Players will be able to shift the perspective to first person, which will likely allow for a much more visceral experience. The trailer also reveals the fourth location of the new game – a nightclub in Berlin, but how that will affect the game or how important it will be wasn’t expounded on.
With all the disappointment surrounding the release of Cyberpunk 2077, it’s nice that gamers will get something that is a little more solid and well put together to enjoy. The VR, in particular, looks fascinating and could be an example of how to properly use the gimmick with a game. Hitman III will be available on January 20th for PS5, PS5, Xbox Series X & S, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC.
