“Cyberpunk 2077” Drops Final Trailer Ahead Of Release

Cyberpunk 2077 is, perhaps, the most anticipated game of 2020. The project has been in the works for over eight years, and it often felt like it would never release.  Excitement reached a fever pitch earlier this year when gameplay and other images, especially those featuring the likeness of Keanu Reeves, who provides his likeness and voice to the proceedings, began to drop.

Now that the game is officially here, the developers, CD Projekt Red, put out a final trailer, meant to build buzz for the game throughout the holiday season. It was well-known that Cyberpunk was going to an expansive and immersive experience, full of lavish designs and exciting mechanics. However, the adventures gamers could find in Night City might be even more extravagant, if the new trailer is any indication.

The video provides focuses on V, the main character of the game, apparently being saved by Reeves’ Johnny Silverhand. It goes on to provide glimpses of the world, showcases some of the more awe-inspiring graphics, and illustrates how V will interact with the other characters.

There are also hints toward the plot, which has been tightly under wraps, though it’s careful not too give too much away. It’s clear the team at CD Projekt Red want to save the story for those who actually play the game, and, as such, it’s a much more atmospheric trailer. It’s far more concerned with establishing a theme of chaos and unpredictability that appears central to the game.

While there is little information provided about the narrative, the trailer does give the idea that it will be both epic, and far more nuanced than most expect. The game officially releases today, December 10th, alongside a day one patch to correct for some of the bugs that critics have pointed out. While it might be a little late to qualify for Game of the Year honors, like Supergiant’s Hades recently recieved, it’s definitely exciting to finally get to play the long-awaited game. Fans can find out now whether Cyberpunk 2077 can live up to the hype that’s been building for so long.
