Gameplay Trailer: “The Lord Of The Rings: Gollum”

While there are a plethora of upcoming adaptations of J.R.R. Tolien’s legendary works, such as Amazon’s The Rings of Power, one of the most exciting has to be the upcoming The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which will allow players play as the series antagonist in the events leading up the the original trilogy of books. And as the the release nears, another gameplay traier has dropped at the recent Nacon Connect event, which showcases some of the locations unique to the game.

Specifically, the story picks up with Gollum after he loses a game of riddles to Bilbo Baggins and realizes he’s also lost his “precious”, the one ring forged by the Dark Lord Sauron that he’d had for several centuries, which had granted him unnatural long life. Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey ranging from the dungeons of Barad-dur to the realm of the Wood-elves in Mirkwood, all in the hope of finding and regaining the ring.

Interestingly, gameplay will shift focus between the personalities of the title character, as players will get to make various decisions depending upon if you side with Gollum or Smeagol, with these decisions affcting the the outcome of the story.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox SX|S on September 1st, while a Nintendo Switch release is being planned for later on in the year, closer to Christmas.
